Structure’s Fall 1993 line was the best collection of men’s clothing I’ve ever encountered — great colors and textures in kind of a 1912, just-got-off-the-boat-in-New-York-from-Italy kind of dockworker-inspired immigrant feel. A real masculine style with this can-do, pick-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps kind of vibe. I must have bought $3000 worth of clothes from Structure in December 1993 from that line, more than I’ve spent on all my clothes before or since then. I wish I had a catalog showing all the styles from that season so I could take it to a tailor to have them recreate that line.

pretty much dead on– though you neglect to mention that, even more sadly, Haverford and Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore’s 2 sister-colleges, come to Swat on the weekends to party. Seriously. There’s a shuttle-bus service. AND a large yellow school-bus on friday & saturday nights from Bryn Mawr, dubbed the “Fuck-Truck.” (the return-service after the parties close at 2a.m. is a tiny shuttle-bus).

And, as dorky-snooty as the students tend to be, the binge-drinking is not only common, but officially sanctioned, approved, & encouraged by the administration, which makes it a much better partying atmosphere than any other school i’ve been to: i.e. safe, & out in the open. Campus Safety actually protected the students from Police harassment or intervention, which i always thought to be impressively enlightened. Also, the rugby team did it’s damnest to set a good example for the rest of the (unwashed) community.

Although i’d agree with ur swarthmore description i’d tell ya it’s more of a trend throughout philly then just swarthmore….why can’t everyone just get fucked up and be happy.
